In this New Years season, many people are thinking about what their New Years resolutions should be for 2021. As you consider how you can improve yourself as a person in the coming year, may I humbly suggest that you consider how you can become a better defender of American liberty? There are plenty of simple steps you can take to increase your power as a grassroots conservative activist. One great thing you can do is to make yourself better informed. The phrase “Knowledge is Power” is more than just a trite slogan. Those that take the time to understand current events, historical precedent, and big ideas are the ones who can be true leaders in the conservative movement. Here are a few ideas to help you reach that goal.
If you want to stay up to date on current events, you have to have good sources to draw from on a daily basis. Certainly, I hope you will count this radio program as part of your arsenal. Additionally, you can draw from a wealth of sources on the internet. Big Tech may be doing their best to stifle conservative voices, but going directly to sources like breitbart.com, newsmax.com, oann.com, and wnd.com are all great places to watch regularly. Print newspapers like the Epoch Times are also great choices. Sign up for my daily email at PhyllisSchlafly.com to have a curated list of daily headlines delivered to your email every weekday. An effective conservative activist needs to be up on current events.
Real grassroots leaders should be looking behind the headlines by staying informed on history and big political concepts. The best way to do that is by being an avid reader of nonfiction political books. Don’t be intimidated by the idea. You don’t have to go out and read Blackstone’s Commentaries On The Laws Of England. Just pick a book about an issue you care about and enjoy reading it. I think you’ll be surprised how much fun it can be.
Do your part to be an effective grassroots activist. Make your New Years resolution to be informed.
